Packaging requirements for international air freight?

1、 Wooden box packaging

Wooden crates are divided into two types of packaging: solid wood crates and plywood crates. Wooden crates must be clean, dry, free from pests, decay, severe cracks, and damage. They can reliably withstand a static pressure of 300kg and will not tremble or deform under a dynamic pressure of 200kg.

2、 Carton packaging

Carton is the most common packaging method in international air transportation, and the paper must be good, tough, sturdy, lightweight, and durable, and able to withstand specified impact forces. Packaging can prevent squeezing and collision, and effectively protect the product.

3、 Sack packaging

Hemp bags are commonly used packaging materials in international air transportation, mainly consisting of coarse linen and fine linen. They have high tensile and tear strength, are soft and wear-resistant, and can prevent damage and deformation caused by friction and collision.

4、 Plastic packaging

Plastic packaging is divided into two types: soft plastic packaging and hard plastic packaging. Plastics have good insulation, thermal insulation, waterproofing, moisture resistance, and chemical stability properties. Plastic bags must be thick and tough to resist the impact and compression of the contents.

5、 Foam plastic packaging

Foamed plastic packaging has the advantages of light weight, good thermal insulation and chemical stability, but its tensile strength is low, impact strength is poor and easy to damage. In international air transport, foamed plastic packaging is generally used to package fragile items, such as glass, ceramics, porcelain and precision instruments.

6、 Metal drum packaging

Metal drums are generally made of aluminum or iron, characterized by pressure resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, no leakage, and good protection performance for the contents. Metal drums are mainly used for packaging liquid products, such as alcoholic beverages, oils, milk, etc.

7、 Bag packaging

A cloth bag refers to a bag made of cotton, linen, or chemical fibers, which is characterized by softness, lightness, good breathability, and is suitable for packaging solid powder items. In international air transportation, cloth bags are mainly used for packaging powdered goods, such as grains, feed, etc.

8、 Container loading

Container shipping is the process of placing a certain amount of packaging or cargo in bulk into a container, and sealing the opening part of the container with a seal. This type of container is generally used for transporting large or large quantities of goods. Due to the enclosed nature of containers, their protective function is much higher than that of regular packaging boxes, and they are less likely to be damaged or stolen. Therefore, it is widely used in air transportation. However, it should be noted that there are limitations on the size and weight of containers, and different airlines or airports have different requirements for container size and weight. Therefore, it is necessary to understand and comply with relevant regulations in advance.

9、 Shipping of bulk goods

Loose cargo refers to goods that have not been packaged or have relatively simple packaging but only a few or a few dozen pieces. This type of goods accounts for a considerable proportion in international air transportation, such as ore, coal, grains, etc. For such goods, they are generally loaded in bulk into containers or aircraft cargo holds. It should be noted that bulk goods are prone to scattering, mixing, and other issues during transportation. Therefore, appropriate bundling and fixing measures need to be taken to ensure the safe transportation of the goods. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to whether the weight and volume of the goods comply with the regulations of the airline and airport.

10、 Dangerous goods shipment

Dangerous goods refer to hazardous materials such as flammable and explosive materials, hazardous chemicals, etc. Special attention should be paid to safety issues during transportation of such items, as accidents can pose a serious threat to life and property. Therefore, it is necessary to comply with relevant regulations and procedures when transporting dangerous goods by air, including requirements for the classification, labeling, packaging, and transportation of dangerous goods. At the same time, it is necessary to provide detailed information on dangerous goods and relevant documents such as transportation permits to airlines or airports.
